This Privacy Policy is designed to inform users of how Clean Cuts manages, collects, and uses their information while they engage with the Clean Cuts macOS application.
Information We Do NOT Collect
Presently, Clean Cuts does not collect any personal data:
- We do not collect or store any media file or data you process with Clean Cuts.
- We do not collect or store logs, diagnostic, or usage data.
Permissions & Local Processing
- Media Access: Due to macOS's sandboxing security measures, Clean Cuts will request permission to access specific folders on your device. This access is necessary for the app to read media files you've provided implicit access to, process these files, and export new versions post-editing.
- Local Storage: Clean Cuts may store settings, preferences, and configurations locally on your device to ensure proper functionality. This data remains on your device and is not transmitted externally.
Third-Party Software
Clean Cuts utilizes various third-party software to enhance functionality:
- Speechmatics: Used for transcription. All transcription operations are transmitted securely through the Speechmatics API.
- FFmpeg and ffprobe: These tools are utilized in the application and are licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL). These binaries are used as separate, external processes and do not integrate into the application's binary. FFmpeg's full license information can be accessed here.
- The source code for FFmpeg and ffprobe, which are required to be made available under the GPL, can be obtained from ffmpeg.org. This code would provide a verbatim version, unmodified, as per its use with Clean Cuts.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may make updates to this Privacy Policy if there are significant changes to our data practices or in response to evolving regulatory requirements. In the event of any substantial changes, we will take appropriate measures to inform our users.
